Finance Your Restoration
A proper restoration is a serious number, and most people don’t have it sitting in one lump. Finance lets you get the bike in the queue and spread the cost, rather than waiting another two years while it keeps deteriorating in the shed.
Why It Exists
The Bike Doesn’t Get Better While You Save Up
Every year a project sits in a shed, the corrosion gets deeper, the magnesium gets worse, and the parts get harder to find. The bikes we turn away are almost never the ones with a big budget behind them — they’re the ones that waited too long.
Finance is simply a way of getting the work started now and paying for it over time. You still get the same staged quoting and the same approvals, and you still see photos at every stage. The only thing that changes is how the invoice gets settled.
It tends to suit frame-off restorations, full engine builds and conversion projects — jobs where the total is high enough that spreading it actually makes a difference.
What It Can Cover
Work You Can Finance
Generally the bigger jobs, where the total is worth spreading.
Frame-Off Restorations
Full strip-and-rebuild projects from around $8,000 up. The most common reason people ask about finance.
Engine Rebuilds
Full bottom-end rebuilds, crank work and replating where the total runs past what you want to pay at once.
Conversion Builds
CR500AF, KX500AF, YZ500 and T500 builds, where the parts bill alone is significant before labour.
Parts & Sourcing
Rare and NOS parts that have to be bought when they come up, not when it suits the budget.
How It Works
Quote First, Then Finance
The order matters. Nobody can arrange finance on a number that doesn’t exist yet.
Tell Us About The Bike
Year, make, model, condition, and what you want out of it. Photos help. We’ll tell you what’s realistic and roughly where the cost lands.
Get It Quoted
For a frame-off that means teardown and inspection first, so the quote reflects what the bike actually needs rather than a guess. You get it in writing with photos.
Talk Through Options
Once there’s a real number, we can point you at how the finance works and what it would look like. Approval is up to the finance provider, not us.
Build Starts
Same process as any other build — staged, quoted, approved and photographed throughout. Nothing about the work changes.
Either Way
The Build Is The Same
Staged And Approved
Every stage quoted and approved before it starts, whether you’re financing or paying as you go.
Photographed Throughout
Full photo record from teardown to handover, handed over at the end.
Nothing Without Your Say-So
No work appears on an invoice that you didn’t approve first. That doesn’t change.
Honest About Whether It’s Worth It
If a bike isn’t worth restoring, we’ll tell you before anyone signs anything.
Questions
Restoration Finance Questions
Often, yes. Finance is generally available on larger jobs such as frame-off restorations, full engine rebuilds and conversion builds. It’s arranged through a third-party provider and subject to their approval. Ask us when you enquire and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Yes. Finance is arranged against a real figure, so the job has to be quoted first. On a frame-off that means teardown and inspection, because the quote needs to reflect what the bike actually needs rather than an estimate.
In practice it only makes sense on the bigger jobs. A service or a top end isn’t worth the paperwork. Frame-off restorations, full engine builds and conversions are the usual candidates.
No. The work is quoted and approved in stages, photographed throughout, and nothing gets done without your approval — exactly the same as any other build. Only the payment side differs.
Generally the finance is against the total job, which includes parts. That matters on vintage builds where rare parts have to be bought when they surface rather than when the budget allows.
The finance provider, not us. Garage Eleven is a workshop, not a credit provider or adviser. We can tell you how it works and what the job costs, but approval, rates and terms are entirely between you and the provider.
Get the bike quoted first. Use the form on this page or call the workshop on 0423 963 402, tell us what you’ve got and what you want out of it, and we’ll work through the numbers with you before anything is committed.
