KX500AF Conversion

Kawasaki’s legendary KX500 two-stroke, dropped into a modern 2024 KX450F chassis using a fully bolt-in, fully reversible conversion kit. Big-bore two-stroke power, current-generation handling.

What It Is

Two-Stroke Muscle, Modern Chassis

The KX500 was Kawasaki’s big-bore two-stroke weapon, produced right through until 2004 — a raw, torquey machine that built its reputation in desert racing and open-class motocross. The KX500AF takes that engine and fits it into a current 2024 KX450F chassis, giving you the two-stroke hit with modern suspension, brakes and ergonomics underneath it.

Unlike some big-bore conversions that require permanent, invasive changes to the donor frame, the kit we use is designed to be 100% bolt-in and fully reversible — the chassis isn’t cut or permanently modified to accept the engine.

A 1986+ KX500 engine, a 2024 KX450F chassis, and a kit built specifically to join the two properly — no cutting, no permanent modification.

What’s Involved

The Conversion Kit

The frame conversion kit fitted to your KX450F chassis includes the hardware needed to mount the KX500 engine properly and cool it correctly using the factory radiators.

  • Billet Y-piece
  • Billet upper and lower motor mounts
  • Billet cylinder head stays
  • Mandrel-bent frame rails
  • Cooling line kit — runs both factory 2024 KX450F radiators in series, standard KX500 configuration

Intake boot and rear shock work to suit the OEM airbox are handled separately as part of the build, along with engine service and running setup once the kit is fitted.

Garage Eleven Conversion Process

Fitted Properly, Not Just Bolted On

We handle the fitment, engine service, and final setup so the bike leaves as a running KX500AF — not just a kit bolted to a frame.

01

Donor Check

We confirm your KX450F chassis and KX500 engine are suitable for the conversion before work begins.

02

Kit Fitment

The bolt-in conversion kit is fitted with proper mechanical care — mounts, cooling lines and alignment checked throughout.

03

Engine Service

The KX500 engine is gone through and serviced so it’s ready to run reliably in its new home.

04

Running Setup

Started, checked and set up before handover — carb, cooling and running checks all confirmed.
